Lee County drivers alarmed by scattered USPS mail at busy intersection

From the article: "..."You've got mail!...all over the road," said WINK News reporter Maddie Herron, describing the scene.

Milagros Rivera, a 911 caller, said there were "probably more than 200 packages all over the floor."

Rivera and her friends narrowly avoided hitting...The group decided to call 911 due to the potential for a tragic incident.

According to USPS, a postal truck accidentally dumped part of its load while driving. An employee from a nearby processing center confirmed this to WINK News. ...USPS provided a statement saying they "retrieved all packages, which have since been transported to their intended destinations"

Audit finds USPS delayed security upgrades in Houston, putting some mail 'vulnerable to theft'

From the article: "...ABC13 is learning that the postal service installed 361 of the high-security boxes and 364 electronic arrow keys in Houston, but district management did not install them in a timely fashion. According to the audit, they also did not track the location of the high security boxes.

"Every delayed installation of these eLocks leaves carriers and older collection boxes vulnerable to theft," the audit says. ..."
